Gayle Krohe
Abode Regional Compliance Director

Gayle joined the Hospice of North Alabama family in 2005 as a Registered Nurse. During her fifteen-year tenure, she has also served patients as a Nurse Practitioner and as the Regional Compliance Director for the state of Alabama. She said that she has many favorite hospice memories and has met many incredible people over the past fifteen years. “I have spent time looking through pictures of travel from all over the world, listening to them describe fascinating experiences.” From musicians, teachers, engineers, business leaders, and every professional in between, Gayle said she has enjoyed learning how members of our community have made changes in their chosen fields. “Everyone has a story, like the stay at home mom who fostered and adopted more children than most people would—I saw her heart of compassion and strength. Or the families who have put past hurts behind them to rally around their loved one to ensure peace and comfort was present at the end of life. I have met those who lacked family and support and have seen how hospice filled the void and provided companionship at the end of life.” Gayle said in her role now she has the privilege of watching the hospice team in action, caring above and beyond their job duties for their patients for some of the simple needs that healthy people often take for granted. “Hospice is more than a terminal diagnosis. It’s about the people,” Gayle said. When she is not serving others, Gayle enjoys travel with family, keeping and creating family traditions, swimming, walking reading, good food, laughing at good jokes, meeting new people, enjoying lunch with friends, ATV riding, and playing with her grandson.
